Thanksgiving 2021

Our niece, Tammy, shared a picture of her mom and grandma making candy. They both looked so happy! I told Tammy that they were making happy memories. Then, I got to thinking of the wonderful memories I have of time spent with my grandparents. We went for walks and picked wild flowers. We made cookies and grandma sang to us. We went swimming and berry picking…there were so many good times. And I thought of others…my father-in-law, who was a big man with a big heart. He loved his family. He loved to laugh and to tell a good story. He loved to go on trail rides, driving his team of big draft horses and pulling a wagon load of kids. And I thought of my sister, Tamra. She is a part of so many of my memories. Some of those happy memories are Tamra specific, things that only she and I understood, could recall and enjoy.

There is a song called, “This World is Not My Home”. And I know that I’ll see my dear loved ones again. I haven’t heard my grandma sing or my father-in-law laugh for the last time. And I haven’t held my sister’s hand for the last time either. So this Thanksgiving, even though I’m so thankful for many things, I’m most thankful for hope and the peace that passeth all understanding thru our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have felt this peace in times of sickness and in times of loss. But I’ve also felt this peace in times of joy. Thank you Lord!! And praise God for all of our blessings!!

And Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

Psalms 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Psalms 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
